Have They Forgotten?

Zacharias Moussaoui received life in prison, rather than the death penalty, for his role in 9/11.

Some argue that Moussaoui wanted martyrdom -- and so prison is worse than death. But this isn't about him . . . it's about what punishment is fitting for those who any role in the worst attack on America in its history.

It's a piece of what happens when the Clinton-era approach to terrorism is used, where terrorists are treated like criminals, rather than as the traitors and/or enemy combatants that they are.

In 1993, less than two months after the first attack on the World Trade Center, the first of 10 radical Islamic conspirators responsible was arraested. Two and a half years later all of the conspirators were convicted and thrown into prison for sentences up to 240 years with no hope of parole.

In 2002, less than nine months after the second attack on the World Trade Center, the President of the United States said, "I truly am not that concerned about him," when asked about Osama bin Laden. Here we sit four and a half years after our nation was attacked, and the mastermind of the attack wanders free and drops off the occasional tape, and the Bush administration's war of choice has turned Iraq into an al Quaeda breeding ground.

Bushy, you're doing a heckuva job.

Moussaoui didn't kill anyone. He planned to, but that is not the same as murder. Life in jail is a just sentence in this case.

The one who is ultimately responsible for 9/11, however, is still free. Given that it took America less than four years to deal with Japanese aggression during world war 2, the fact that Osama remains uncaptured almost 5 years after 9/11 is not just a travesty of justice, it is also evidence of incompetence.

While I admittedly wanted to see this terrorist fried, I think it better now that he slowly rot in some dark and damp cell without visitors.

What I don't like about it is that a few of our weeny waste politicians (Democrats) may give in to the expected request from France that we allow him to spend his time behind bars there. Then the French surrender kings can let him out in a few years to spread his hate again. then we'll wish we had polished off Old Sparky and given the proper punishment.

Moose will be forgotten inside of five years. At best he can only hope for a footnote in the history books. He's not important.

Ending tyranny around the world, now that's important.

Welcome back, Mr. Twister.

As usual, you're not paying attention. OBL is not exactly wandering free. He is holed up and barely able to move.

Also, Al Quaeda is becoming less and less welcome in Iraq. The Iraqi forces are having greater and greater success against the terrorists because the general population has become fed up with those thugs. That's not exactly what I would call a breeding ground.

And again on par with your usual drivel, you express no desire to see our ACTUAL enemies defeated. Therefore, you offer no constructive ideas. You simply spew hatred of the President of the United States who, apparently, is your only actual enemy.

Yes, President Bush is doing a great job! His foreign policiy initiatives are correct and sound. Seeing them through will make America and the world a better, safer, freer place. What's not to like about that?

OBL is holed up and unable to move? How, exactly, do you know this? From the government that has been unable to find and capture him? From the president who has said he doesn't really care that much about him? Where do you get information that is unavailable to any other person on the planet?

Hey Greg, it's nice to see that you are continuing to be an enabler for the most incompetent administration ever. Here's a hint for you dude--guys who are "holed up and unable to move" aren't able to release production quality videos.

Any planes flown into your homes lately wrabkin and twisted?

How do you know what the plan for OBL actually is? As stated, the Iraqis are turning on the terrorists and there appears to be dissension amongst the murdering big shots. If you two would actually watch and listen rather than just hatin' Bush, you'd learn things.

No planes flew into my house during the Clinton, Bush 1, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, and Kennedy administrations either, so I'm not about to give GWB a big smoochie for this. Because all those other presidents didn't ignore clear warnings that an attack was coming and choose to go on vacation for a month.

As for the "plan" for OBL -- so far, it seems to involve doing nothing for four years. Maybe this is a plan. If so, I'm thinking it's not a very good one. We took Hitler in less time, and he had the entire German army fighting for him.

So now Iraqi civillians, who were never allied with Bin Laden, are getting sick of terrorism? This is the plan? Instead of, say, finding and executing the man who committed this act of terror againt our country, invade a different country where OBL has no presence and make life there so miserable that the citizens come to hate Al Qaeda? Granted, that is the level of strategic thinking we've come to expect from this White House, but if you believe this is an actual plan, then I can only assume you spent the '90s screaming about Clinton smuggling coke in Air Force One between mass murder sprees.
